The Heritage Design Challenge by Takealot was more than a celebration of the brand’s iconic blue dot. It became a creative journey through the diverse cultures and identities that shape South Africa.

The initiative invited designers and artists to reinterpret the Takealot brand through the lens of heritage, encouraging participants to draw inspiration from their cultural backgrounds and personal stories.

The video highlights the artists, their ideas and the inspiration that guided their designs, capturing the creativity, passion and cultural pride behind the challenge.

CoolerBox Brothers handled the post production of the project, transforming the raw footage into a polished and engaging final piece. Through careful editing, colour grading, sound design and visual graphics, the team shaped the material into a vibrant story that reflects the richness of South African culture.

Because the interviews featured several South African vernacular languages, the editing process required close collaboration with team members who understood the languages being spoken. This ensured that the meaning and nuance of each conversation remained accurate while the content was subtitled in English for a wider audience.

The result is a story driven video that celebrates artistic expression, cultural identity and the powerful connection between heritage and design.
