Doodgewone Jo is an Afrikaans entertainment programme hosted by musician Jo Black that blends interviews, challenges, DIY creativity and music into a single engaging show. Throughout the series, Jo meets everyday heroes and well known media personalities while exploring inspiring stories and unique talents.
The programme also features light hearted racing challenges where celebrities compete for charity, as well as creative projects created together with Nadine Vosloo, the brain behind the popular South African brand Tjhoko Paint.
The series was developed and produced by CoolerBox Brothers, who designed the format around a dynamic mix of conversation, action and hands on creativity.
By combining studio interviews, on location challenges and practical build segments, the show offers a varied viewing experience while keeping Jo Black’s personality and music at the heart of the programme.
The adventurous nature of the challenges sometimes pushed the action a little too far. During one of the activities Jo Black even broke his collarbone, a moment that perfectly captures the unpredictable and energetic spirit of the show.
The result is an entertaining and uplifting television series that celebrates creativity, community and the inspiring people Jo meets along the way.
