Konings van Kitskos is a South African food and travel television series created by CoolerBox Brothers. The show follows Afrikaans pop star Gerhard Steyn, widely known as Baby Tjoklits, and actor and comedian Alvin Bruinders as they travel across South Africa in search of the country’s most unique, delicious and unexpected fast food experiences.
In this energetic and entertaining series, the dynamic duo visit restaurants, takeaways and hidden gems from small roadside diners to quirky local eateries. Along the way they meet passionate food makers and uncover the flavours that make South African street food and takeaway culture so memorable.
Over the course of the journey, Gerhard and Alvin have visited more than two hundred and sixty restaurants across the country in their quest to discover the best fast food South Africa has to offer. By the time they reached restaurant number one hundred and eighty two, the pair realised their mission had come with a few extra kilograms. This led them to take on a diet challenge where both lost around thirty kilograms before returning to continue the adventure with renewed energy and appetite.
Each episode of Konings van Kitskos is filled with humour, friendly rivalry and plenty of bold flavours. From tasting the hottest chilli to tackling towering burgers and decadent milkshakes, the hosts compete to discover the ultimate guilty pleasure and crown South Africa’s true King of Fast Food.
