Stem Saam takes viewers behind the scenes of one of South Africa’s most prestigious a cappella competitions, following three schools, Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool Pretoria, Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog and Hoërskool Linden, as they prepare for the Animato A Cappella Competition.
The series captures the dedication, teamwork and creative energy of the students as they rehearse, refine their harmonies and step onto the stage to compete for top honours. Alongside the performances, viewers gain insight into the friendships, discipline and determination required to perform at such a high level.
CoolerBox Brothers shaped the production to balance the excitement of the competition with the personal stories behind the music. Working closely with the schools, the team documented moments of collaboration, preparation and performance, creating a series that celebrates youthful ambition, creativity and the thrill of competition.
A special detail in the series is the theme song itself. The girls performed the theme music with their own voices, with director George van Rooyen adding the lower harmonies to complete the arrangement.
